About This Treatment

What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. It can happen even when you're not particularly hot or exercising, and can affect everyday life, work, confidence and what you feel comfortable wearing. One of the most common areas we treat is the underarms.

Small amounts of anti-wrinkle treatment are injected across the area, working by temporarily reducing the signals that tell the sweat glands to produce sweat. The aim isn't to stop your body sweating completely — it's to significantly reduce sweating in the area we've treated.

Your Treatment

Consultation First

You'll need a face-to-face consultation with one of our nurse prescribers before treatment. We'll talk through how much you're sweating, how it affects you and your medical history to make sure treatment is suitable — because the medicine we use is prescription-only, it needs to be prescribed for you individually.

The treatment itself is fairly straightforward: we mark out the area and use lots of small injections across the skin. It can feel a little stingy, but the appointment is usually quick and you can get back to most normal activities afterwards.

Additional Information

Why Saints?

Excessive sweating can be really frustrating, and we know it's not just a cosmetic concern. At Saints Aesthetics, you'll be seen by one of our nurse prescribers, who will assess you properly before recommending treatment. No awkwardness and no judgement — we see it all the time.

Results, Downtime & Aftercare

When Will It Start Working?

You won't notice the difference immediately. Sweating should start to reduce over the following days, with the full effect developing over the next couple of weeks. Results can last around 4–6 months, although some people get longer — everyone responds differently, so we'll advise you when it's time to consider another treatment rather than putting you on a fixed schedule.

There's very little downtime. You may have some redness, small bumps, tenderness or bruising around the injection sites, but these usually settle quickly, and we'll give you your aftercare before you leave. A review appointment is included 21–28 days after treatment, giving us time to see how well the area has responded and discuss any clinically appropriate adjustment.
