Facial Balancing & Dermal Filler in Sheffield
It's not about changing your face. It's about balance.
Sometimes the area that bothers you isn't actually the area that needs treating. You might notice your jawline, feel your chin looks small from the side, or think your smile lines have become deeper. But when we assess your face as a whole, the best result may come from restoring support somewhere else — that's what facial balancing is about.
At Saints Aesthetics, we use dermal filler carefully across different areas of the face to improve proportion, structure and balance, while keeping the result natural. We want you to still look like you.

About This Treatment
What Is Facial Balancing?
Facial balancing isn't one set treatment or a standard number of millilitres. It's a personalised approach to dermal filler where we look at how your features work together rather than treating one area in isolation.
Depending on your face, your treatment plan might involve one area or a combination of areas — including the cheeks, chin, jawline, lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, pre-jowl area, temples, and tear troughs where suitable. You won't automatically need all of these; for some clients, one small adjustment can make a noticeable difference to the overall face.
Benefits & Treatment Areas
Why Might I Need More Than One Area Treated?
Faces are all about proportion. Adding projection to a recessed chin can improve the profile and make the jawline appear more balanced. Restoring volume through the cheeks can sometimes improve the appearance of the mid and lower face without putting filler directly into every line. You may come in asking for jawline filler and, after assessing you, we may recommend a little chin support too — it's about looking at why something is bothering you rather than simply filling the area you point to.
Cheeks
Cheek filler can restore volume, add subtle structure and support the mid-face. Sometimes improving cheek support can also soften the appearance of shadows or folds lower down the face. We don't automatically aim for high or overly defined cheekbones — placement depends entirely on your natural anatomy. Read more about Cheek Filler.
Chin
A relatively small amount of chin filler can sometimes make a big difference to facial proportions. It can improve projection, shape and profile balance, particularly when the chin naturally sits further back. If you also have a pebbled or dimpled chin caused by muscle movement, we may recommend chin anti-wrinkle treatment alongside filler. Read more about Chin Filler.
Jawline
Jawline filler can be used to add structure and definition through selected areas of the lower face. But not every softer jawline needs filler — if skin laxity, muscle activity or fullness beneath the chin is contributing to the concern, another treatment may be more appropriate. We'll tell you if we think adding filler isn't the answer.
Nasolabial Folds & Marionette Lines
Lines around the nose and mouth are completely normal and we don't believe they need to be erased. If they've become deeper due to volume loss, dermal filler can sometimes soften their appearance — though we'll also look at whether loss of support elsewhere in the face is contributing before deciding to place filler directly into the fold.
Pre-Jowl Area
As the face changes with age, a small hollow can sometimes develop between the chin and jowl. Carefully placed filler can help smooth this transition and create better continuity along the lower face — depending on your anatomy, this may be combined with chin or jawline treatment.
Temples
Volume loss through the temples can make the upper face appear more hollow. For suitable clients, carefully placed dermal filler can restore some of this lost volume and create a softer transition through the upper face. Temple filler is an advanced treatment and suitability will always be assessed carefully.
Your Treatment
What Happens During Treatment?
We start with a consultation and full facial assessment, discussing your medical history, what you'd like to improve and what kind of result you're comfortable with. We assess your face from the front, side and at different angles, looking at your natural proportions, existing volume, symmetry and areas where support may have been lost — then we talk to you about what bothers you, what you like about your face, and what you absolutely don't want to change.
At Saints, we use STYLAGE® by VIVACY hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Different areas of the face need different things from a filler — some need softness and movement, others need more structure and support — so we choose the most appropriate product based on the area being treated, your anatomy and the result we want to achieve. If dermal filler is suitable, we'll agree which areas to treat and how much product we recommend before starting; filler is then carefully placed using a needle and/or cannula depending on the area and your individual plan.
Additional Information
Sometimes Filler Isn't The Answer
This is a big part of how we work at Saints. If the concern is being caused mainly by skin laxity, skin quality, muscle activity or another issue, adding more filler may not give you the result you're looking for. Depending on what we see, we may discuss anti-wrinkle treatment, Sculptra, Hydromax, polynucleotides, HIFU, RF microneedling, CO2 laser or other skin treatments — sometimes a combination approach gives a much better result than filler alone, and sometimes we'll recommend no filler at all.
Saints Aesthetics is a nurse prescriber-led aesthetics clinic in Sheffield with a focus on natural results and honest treatment plans. We don't want to give everybody the same cheeks, lips, chin or jawline — we'll assess your whole face, listen to what you'd like to improve and explain what we genuinely think would make a difference. If that's 1ml, we'll tell you. If we think you'd benefit from gradually treating several areas, we'll explain why. And if we think filler isn't what your face needs, we'll tell you that too. Facial balancing isn't about creating a new face — it's about making subtle changes that work with the one you already have.
Results, Downtime & Aftercare
How Long Does Dermal Filler Last?
Some swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are normal following dermal filler. How much you experience will depend partly on the areas treated and the amount of filler used — we'll talk you through what to expect and give you full aftercare advice before you leave.
Dermal filler typically lasts around 12–18 months, although this can vary depending on the area treated, the product used, your metabolism and lifestyle — some areas of the face naturally hold filler for longer than others. Rather than automatically topping up at a set time, we prefer to reassess your face and only add more filler when it's actually needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will facial balancing make me look different?
You should still recognise yourself. Good facial balancing shouldn't leave everyone wondering what you've had done — our aim is subtle adjustments that help your features sit more harmoniously together. You may look fresher, more balanced or slightly more defined, but still like you.
How much filler will I need?
There isn't a standard answer — you may need 1ml, several millilitres across different areas, or we may recommend building your result gradually over more than one appointment. The number of millilitres isn't the goal; the result is. We'll explain what we recommend and why before you decide whether to go ahead.
Do I need more than one area treated?
Not necessarily — for some clients, one small adjustment makes a noticeable difference. For others, treating a combination of areas creates better overall balance. We'll explain our reasoning either way rather than assuming you need everything at once.
